Innocent, a Malayalam actor, dies. 2023
Innocent, a veteran Malayalam actor and former member of parliament, passed away on Sunday at a private hospital in Kochi. Upon learning of the terrible tragedy, a number of celebrities turned to social media to express their sorrow at the actor’s passing.
The actor, a cancer survivor, was brought to the hospital on March 3 with respiratory issues after apparently being ill for some time.
Saddened by the passing, Prithviraj Sukumaran remarked on Twitter, “The conclusion of an iconic chapter in film history! Rest eternal, Legend! #Innocent.”
Multiple organ failure and a heart attack, according to the hospital, led to the actor’s death.
Dulquer Salmaan posted a few photos of himself with the late actor along with a sad message “We have lost the most brilliant star in our constellation. You made us cry from laughter. You made us cry till our insides hurt. You were of the greatest caliber as an actor. One of the everlasting greats of all time. Beyond that, you were beautiful in every way. You had nothing except heart.”
He said, “You were related. To mine. To everyone who observed your performance on-screen. To each person you met. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know you intimately. Like the brother of my father. Similar to an uncle to Surumy and I. You represent my youth. I also matured to perform beside you. And you entertained us with tales both then and today. Always attracting people. Always elevating them. My ideas are scattered throughout. As is the case with my writing. I adore you, Innocent’s uncle. Rest in peace.”
According to a statement from the VPS Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi, Innocent died around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday.
A few years ago, he was diagnosed with cancer, but in 2015, he revealed that he had been cured. In his book, titled ‘Laughter in the Cancer Ward,’ he detailed his struggle with cancer.
His descendants include his wife, Alice, and his son, Sonnet.
Innocent began the film business in 1972 with the film Nrityashala starring Prem Nazir and Jayabharathi. He was born in 1948 in Inrinjalakuda.
