Mass Strike Threatened by Labor Party for Job Creation Perpu 2023
On Monday, March 13, the Labor Party will join forces with several groups such as the Federation of Indonesian Metal Worker Unions (FSPMI) at the House of Representatives (DPR) headquarters in Central Jakarta.
According to Riden Hatam Aziz, the chief judge of the Labor Party, 2,000 to 3,000 people are anticipated to join this demonstration.
In front of the DPR headquarters in Senayan, he stated, “Today’s huge rally will be attended by around 2,000 to 3,000 people.”
At today’s massive demonstration, the Labor Party and other unions jointly oppose the DPR’s ratification of the Job Creation Perpu. In addition, they requested the passage of the PPRT Bill, opposed the Health Bill, and sought the immediate dismissal of the Director General of Taxes.
Riden Hatam Aziz has warned of a massive strike if the Perpu for the Omnibus Employment Creation Act is approved. He cautioned legislators against disregarding their warning.
“We will continue to work to prevent the passage of this legislation. Even if compelled by the DPR, we would seek a review to the Constitutional Court and go on strike on May Day “he stated.
