Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy Claims Rogue Squadron May Still Happen 2023
Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, has stated that the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron film could still be made despite Disney’s failure to produce it.
In an interview with IGN at Star Wars Celebration, Kennedy offered optimism to fans dismayed by the rumored cancellation of the film.
“Rogue Squadron is something we continue to discuss,” she said, though she hinted that it may not reappear in the same form. That’s undoubtedly something, regardless of whether it’s a movie or a television series.

According to reports, Rogue Squadron was removed from Disney’s production timetable in November 2021 due to director Patty Jenkins’ other commitments. Originally scheduled to debut in December 2023, Disney ultimately removed it from the release schedule.
Jenkins stated that she intended to create “the finest fighter pilot film of all time,” drawing inspiration from her father’s U.S. Navy pilot career. Even rumors that the film would adapt the classic video game of the same name circulated.
It’s not too late yet.
When the film was announced, Kennedy said, “This story will introduce a new generation of star fighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives on a high-speed adrenaline journey.” “The legend of Rogue Squadron has been cherished by Star Wars enthusiasts for a very long time, and it will propel us into a new era of the galaxy.”
The possibility of more Rogue Squadron is the latest in a long line of Star Wars-related announcements made over the weekend, with Disney announcing three brand-new films and providing numerous updates on impending television series. Kennedy’s complete interview with IGN will be published later today, so stay tuned.
