A fresh claim on Page Six quotes a source as saying that Suri, now 16 years old, stays with her mother in New York following her parents’ 2011 split. According to a source quoted by the Daily Mail, Suri has begun applying to universities and wishes to study fashion.

According to the same article, Cruise and Suri have been estranged since 2013 and Cruise is obligated to pay for Suri’s further education. According to the allegation, he must pay $400,000 annually until Suri becomes 18 years old.

According to Page Six, when he was probed about the reason for his split from Holmes, with whom he once appeared to be madly in love, the actor suggested that his affiliations with the controversial Church of Scientology may have played a factor. When asked if Holmes had gone her own way “in part to safeguard Suri from Scientology,” Cruise responded, “That was one of the claims, sure.”
Members of the Church of Scientology are forbidden from socializing with non-believers, who are known as “suppressive individuals.” Leah Remini, a former Scientologist, told The Post in 2020 that Holmes is considered a ‘enemy’ by Scientology because she does not believe in its practices, and therefore Suri cannot form a bond with her father: “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri is older so he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”
Cruise is one of the world’s most prominent Scientologists, which remains a contentious component of his personal life. With Top Gun: Maverick, he had the greatest professional success of his career in the past year.
