Sunday night, the last episode of ABC’s reality singing competition’s auditions aired, featuring a bevy of hopefuls performing for judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie in an attempt to win a golden ticket to Hollywood.
One of the competitors was recognizable.
Fire takes Katy Perry’s second opportunity.
Fire, a 22-year-old stripper and single mother from Oklahoma, returned for another audition after the judges indicated in last week’s show that she had potential but was not yet ready for Hollywood. At the moment, Perry advised the sobbing contender, who claimed she wants a better life for her 4-year-old kid, to try again.
Fire took her second chance, and with her loud voice, she delivered the heat.
Perry urged Fire to “fight for it” as she sang Adele’s “Love in the Dark” and Fire responded with a stunning belting performance.
Richie stated, “I was rooting for you so hard in that situation.” “You received a severe hit on your first attempt. You have a nice tone, but I’m not really convinced.”
Bryan stated that the uniqueness of Fire cannot be denied.
“You have returned with an entirely different frame of mind,” he added. “Are you the finest vocalist we’ve seen? Not at all, however there are certain aspects of you that I’d like to challenge you on. You still have plenty to uncover.”
Perry made a comment about Fire. “has changed. She stated, “I believe you’ve spent the most of your life in defense mode.” “The gift is the ability to once more become receptive. Take this note, and you may perhaps surprise both us and yourself.”
Fire departed with a golden ticket.
